Job Summary:
Responsible that each patient encounters a positive environment where they feel safe and encouraged during their recovery. Works in collaboration with medical and clinical staff to provide quality care to adult patients and quality support to providers through consistent communication.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Establishes positive relationships and rapport with patients. Assists patients with daily tasks.
- Respects the rights of individuals, including the ethical aspects of boundaries, care, treatment, and services, allowing the patient to be a major part of their treatment and recovery.
- Respects patient confidentiality and HIPAA as core values of our company, in accordance with Title 42 CFR, ensuring the patient knows and understands their rights.
- Assists in supervision of patient internal and external activities, being always aware of patient whereabouts. (External trips for recreation, recovery meetings and medical appointments.)
- Ensures punctuality for group and individual sessions.
- Effectively communicates via written, verbal, and electronic methods, with department and other staff.
- Accurately, legibly, and timely records patient observations and activities in patient records and logs.
- Monitor and participate in the safety, upkeep, and daily cleanliness of the treatment facility.
- Reports situations needing de-escalation to appropriate staff. Having empathy but ensuring patients conduct themselves in an orderly manner.
- Staying organized is essential in this position that requires you to fulfill a range of timely responsibilities.
- Implements safety and emergency procedures during fire, severe weather, or workplace violence drills or actual events, assisting patients to safety.
- Provides recommendations for individual and department goals and objectives.
- Attends regular staff meetings.
- Regular attendance is essential to the success of the department. Occasionally you will be required to work weekends and holidays.

Required Skills/Abilities/Competencies:
- Sensitive to cultural diversity – being aware of and respecting cultural differences.
- Ability to be non-judgmental and provide care and compassion with chemically dependent individuals during and after detoxification.
- Ability to have standard competencies visually verified within 90 days of hire. Includes, but not limited to, ethics, empathy, problem solving, social, communication and attention to detail. Other competencies in customer service and organization are critical to this role.
- Ability to detect and improve patients’ basic physical and emotional health.
- Knowledge of 12-Step Program.
- Able to read, analyze and interpret policies and instructions to present information effectively in both verbal and written communication skills.
- Open to feedback and responds appropriately.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills within the team, as well as patients.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to function confidently in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED, preferred.
- 1 year experience working in a related field with similar responsibilities, preferred.
- Prefer successful completion in a national behavioral health tech certification program.

Valid, unexpired driver’s license, at all times.
- When assigned to drive company vehicles, BHT’s are responsible for safe operation and maintenance of the vehicle.
- Participates in continuing education and other professional development.
- Proficient with Google Business Suite, Microsoft Office Suite and/or related software.
- Experience with electronic medical records such as KIPU, preferred.
Physical and Environmental Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of standing and moving.
- Proper lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling techniques up to 50 pounds.
- Execute proper hand hygiene.
- Use of proper PPE, as needed (gloves, mask, goggles, gown, etc.).
- Experiences periods of high stress.
- Teamwork and individual motivation are critical to the success of this position.
