Job Summary:
Responsible for directing and managing the nursing staff and providing high-quality patient care for designated shifts. The Nursing Supervisor will work with related departments to ensure that patient care issues are addressed during the designated shift. Compassionately responsible for assessing and monitoring adult patient’s condition and diagnosis with mental illness.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Nurses, Medical Assistants.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Establishes rapport, gathers data and patient history.
- Respects the rights of individuals, including the ethical aspects of boundaries, care, treatment, and services, allowing the patient to be a major part of their treatment and recovery.
- Respects patient confidentiality and HIPAA as core values of our company, in accordance with Title 42 CFR, ensuring the patient knows and understands their rights.
- Supervises staff nurses in their evaluation and assessment of patient needs. Orders medications as prescribed.
- Screen, assess and improve patients’ physical and emotional health by performing patient exams and basic medical procedures such as taking vital signs, observing the patient or physical checks of the patient.
- Manages patient care plans and monitors their implementation.
- Effectively communicates via written, verbal, and electronic methods, with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, BHT’s and clinical staff.
- Accurately and timely makes patient rounds and accurately records patient observations and activities in patient records and charts.
- Ensures compliance with all healthcare regulations and standards.
- Makes nursing assignments for the next day.
- Staying organized is essential in this position that requires you to fulfill a range of timely responsibilities.
- Implements safety and emergency procedures during fire, severe weather, or workplace violence drills or actual events, assisting patients to safety.
- Provides recommendations for individual and department goals and objectives.
- Facilitates regular staff meetings.
- Regular attendance is essential to the success of the department.

Required Skills/Abilities/Competencies:
- Sensitive to cultural diversity – being aware of and respecting cultural differences.
- Ability to be non-judgmental and provide care and compassion with chemically dependent individuals during and after detoxification.
- Ability to have nursing competencies verified within 90 days of hire. Includes, but not limited to, unit specific skills, instructional materials, safety and infection control, equipment, documentation and communication, medication administration, and provisions of care.
- Ability to screen, assess and improve patients’ basic physical and emotional health.
- Analyze and interpret data to determine recommendations and priorities in treatment.
- Able to read, analyze and interpret policies and instructions to present information effectively in both verbal and written communication skills.
- Analyze and interpret data to determine recommendations and priorities in treatment using medical procedures, assessments such as CIWAS/COWS or waived testing.
- Knowledge of SI Protocol.
- Confident in reporting abuse, neglect, or exploitation.
- Able to read, analyze and interpret policies and instructions to present information effectively in both verbal and written communication skills.
- Open to feedback and responds appropriately.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills within the team, as well as patients.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to function confidently in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
Education and Experience:
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
- Current RN licensure in the state of Indiana to practice under the IN-State Board of Nursing – IC25-23-1-12.
- Prefer experience working with addiction, substance use disorder or mental health issues.
- Participates in continuing education and other professional development.
- Proficient with Google Business Suite, Microsoft Office Suite and/or related software.
- Experience with electronic medical records such as KIPU.
Physical and Environmental Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of standing and moving.
- Proper lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling techniques up to 50 pounds.
- Execute proper hand hygiene.
- Use of proper PPE, as needed (gloves, mask, goggles, gown, etc.).
- Experiences periods of high stress.
- Teamwork is critical to the success of this position.
