Position Summary:

The Practice Support Nurse will provide quality nursing services to the patients of BAZ Allergy & Asthma Center, an extension of Allergy & ENT Associates. Practice Nurse will collaborate with management, physicians, and staff. Practice Support Nurse will provide direct clinical staff support, training and mentorship. Practice Support Nurse will work with the Manager of Clinical Services regarding clinical, compliance, training, Allergy & Immunology, and ENT standards. Practice Support Nurse will align with regulatory requirements and safety initiatives supporting the mission, vision, priorities and values of Baz/Allergy and ENT Associates.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provides patient care as a member of the clinical care team within scope of license.
  • Follows nursing policies, procedures, protocols and implements appropriately in the care of adult and pediatric patients.
  • Provides instruction to patients regarding treatment plan/s, medications and follow-up.
  • Communicates effectively with other members of the clinical care team including accurate documentation in patient medical records.
  • Uses communication skills with appropriate medical terminology
  • Follows appropriate legal and ethical professional conduct.
  • Performs specific Job Activities as assigned per office location.
  • Continues professional self-development.
  • Support high quality training and care delivery across Baz/Allergy & ENT Service lines.
  • In coordination with the Regional Director of Operations and Manager of Clinical Services, ensures staff are following current clinical and regulatory compliance standards and guidelines.
  • Works with antigen mix and injections departments to ensure compliance with clinical standards and provides training and education.
  • Promoting continuous improvement in clinical services. Ensures efficient and collaborative clinical care delivery.

Clinical:

  • Interview patients while recording and updating medical information (history, chief complaint) and medications etc. into the E H R
  • Prepares patients for examinations and performs routine screening tests
  • Provides patient education with regards to medications and instructions set forth by the provider to manage their health
  • Triages emergency situations
  • Prepares and administers medications with physician authorization
  • Performs and maintains IV insertion and medications
  • Use CPR skills when necessary
  • Refill requests and Prior Authorizations for medications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current California LVN license.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical procedures, and current nursing practices.
  • One year nursing experience preferred.
  • Allergy/ENT Medical Office experience desirable.
  • Must be self-directed and able to work independently
  • Attention to detail a must
  • Professional, calm and courteous demeanor
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills


COMPUTER SKILLS

  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel and Word

Physical Demands: Anticipate lifting 20-25 pounds in any given day. Lifting up to 40-50 pounds may occasionally be required, depending on the specific style or type of care provided. In the performance of certain patient care tasks, the practice support nurse may be expected to have sufficient manual dexterity in order to safely perform various skills and techniques. Tasks and expectations may vary by clinical site and medical practice. Substantial movements (motion) of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers in a repetitive manner. May be exposed to acutely ill patients, communicable diseases, blood borne pathogens, and airborne allergens used during skin testing and immunotherapy.
