Allergy Technician/Medical Assistant, Full-time, Glenwood Springs, CO
Pay Range: $27.00 to $33.50 per hour

Job Summary:
AllerVie is seeking a skilled and motivated Allergy Technician/Medical Assistant to join our dynamic allergy and immunology team. This dual-role position involves both preparing and mixing allergy immunotherapy treatments (allergen extracts) and assisting with medical duties in the clinic. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a passion for providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.

Duties/Responsibilities:
Allergy Technician/Mixing Duties:
  • Prepare and mix allergy extracts following established protocols and guidelines.
  • Ensure proper handling, labeling, and storage of allergen extracts to maintain patient safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Perform quality control checks on allergen extracts to ensure accuracy and potency.
  • Assist with inventory management of allergen extracts, maintaining accurate records of stock levels and expiration dates.
  • Work closely with allergists and other clinical staff to provide allergen therapy tailored to each patient’s needs.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace while adhering to strict safety and sanitation standards.
Medical Assistant Duties:
  • Assist in patient intake, including taking medical histories, measuring vital signs (e.g., blood pressure, heart rate, weight, temperature), and updating patient records.
  • Prepare patients for examinations, ensuring they are comfortable and informed about the procedures.
  • Administer allergy testing (e.g., skin testing) as directed by the physician.
  • Prepare and assist with patient immunotherapy injections, ensuring proper documentation and patient monitoring after injections.
  • Assist physicians with patient examinations and procedures, providing necessary instruments and supplies.
  • Manage patient flow within the clinic, ensuring timely and efficient care.
  • Document patient interactions, treatments, and procedures accurately in electronic health records (EHR).
  • Educate patients on allergy treatments, home care, and any relevant health concerns.
  • Maintain a professional, compassionate demeanor while interacting with patients and family members.
Qualifications, Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in medical assisting or a related field preferred.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) highly preferred.
  • Prior experience in a clinical or medical office setting, preferably in allergy or immunology.
  • Strong understanding of allergen immunotherapy, including mixing procedures and treatment protocols.
  • Ability to handle sensitive patient information with confidentiality and in compliance with HIPAA guidelines.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, laboratory procedures, and patient care techniques.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and team members.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage time efficiently.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and EMR systems
