Duties/Responsibilities:
Biologics Coordination:
- Coordinate biologic treatments, ensuring timely and accurate scheduling of patient appointments.
- Oversee patient education on biologic therapies, including instructions for administration, potential side effects, and follow-up care.
- Maintain biologics inventory, including tracking, ordering, and managing supplies to ensure adequate stock.
- Work closely with insurance companies and patients to ensure prior authorizations for biologics are obtained and processed.
- Track patient progress and ensure proper documentation of biologic treatment plans, outcomes, and any adverse reactions.
- Assist healthcare providers in administering biologics, either by direct injection or preparation for administration.
Medical Assistant Duties:
- Assist in patient intake, including taking medical histories, measuring vital signs (e.g., blood pressure, heart rate, weight, temperature), and updating patient records.
- Prepare patients for examinations, ensuring they are comfortable and informed about the procedures.
- Administer allergy testing (e.g., skin testing) as directed by the physician.
- Prepare and assist with patient immunotherapy injections, ensuring proper documentation and patient monitoring after injections.
- Assist physicians with patient examinations and procedures, providing necessary instruments and supplies.
- Manage patient flow within the clinic, ensuring timely and efficient care.
- Document patient interactions, treatments, and procedures accurately in electronic health records (EHR).
- Educate patients on allergy treatments, home care, and any relevant health concerns.
- Maintain a professional, compassionate demeanor while interacting with patients and family members.
Qualifications, Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in medical assisting or a related field preferred.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) highly preferred.
- Prior experience in a clinical or medical office setting, preferably in allergy or immunology.
- Strong understanding of allergen immunotherapy, including mixing procedures and treatment protocols.
- Ability to handle sensitive patient information with confidentiality and in compliance with HIPAA guidelines.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, laboratory procedures, and patient care techniques.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and team members.
- Ability to work well under pressure and manage time efficiently.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification is a plus.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and EMR systems.
