POSITION SUMMARY:
Alleviate Pain and Spine is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Nurse or APC manager for our Interventional Pain clinic. This role encompasses both administrative and clinical duties and offers career growth and a supportive work environment in an ambulatory setting.
In this role, you will provide and coordinate nursing care to provide quality patient care in a medical group practice setting. Interventional Pain Manager responsibilities:
- This role involves directing, coordinating, and controlling all operational functions while ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures
- The Nurse Manager will also focus on training and mentoring clinical staff to maintain high standards of care
- Direct and coordinate all aspects of the operating functions of the procedure center and outpatient clinic
- Ensure compliance with established policies, procedures, and protocols
- Train and mentor clinical staff to enhance their skills and performance
- Manage daily operations to ensure efficient patient care and service delivery
- Reviewing patient’s medical information such as patient’s name, allergies, procedure, prescriptions, medical history, and medications.
- Educating patients on the procedure(s) that will be performed, pre-operation instructions, and what they can expect.
- Preparing the patient for procedures. (i.e. starting IV’s, instructing patients to change, escorting patients to the procedure room, draping, positioning patient)
- Administer conscious to moderate sedation as needed under physician supervision
- Assist with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, if applicable
- Assist in procedure room turnover from one procedure to the next.
- Escorting the patient to the recovery room.
- Monitoring the patient during recovery and completing the recovery section of the EMR.
- Reviewing discharge instructions and medications with the patient.
- Discharging patients and completing the discharge section of the EMR.
- Answering patients’ medical questions in person and on the telephone.
- Resolving patient complaints.
- Assist in ordering drugs and medical supplies used during procedures.
- Telephoning patients one day after their procedure to check on their status and documenting the telephone follow-up.
- Provide health education, including self-care and wellness issues, to patients and their families.
- Compliance with state and federal law.
The successful candidate will be hired at a level commensurate with licensure and/or certification.
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Interventional Pain RN requirement(s):
- Registered nurses or APCs must have excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Proficient computer skills are a plus. Individuals must be compassionate and enjoy helping others.
- Empathy and patience are highly valued qualities that one must possess.
- They must have the ability to give and follow directions effectively.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Current RN / APC licensure in Wisconsin
- BLS and ACLS certifications
- 2 years of clinical experience in any of the following settings: Critical care (ICU, CCU, ER, Cath Lab), Gastroenterology (Endoscopy), Special procedures, surgical nursing. Or experience as as NP/PA in a pain management role.
- Competency in administering moderate to conscious sedation
EXPERIENCE PREFERRED FOR ALL POSITIONS: Direct patient care in a health care facility. Ambulatory medical office setting. Experience with eClinicalWorks EMR
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This individual will be walking and standing for approximately 60% of the workday. They must be able to lift approximately 15 pounds unassisted. Reaching and stretching intermittently are required for assisting patients in the ambulatory setting. Must possess the degree of total body strength and flexibility necessary to assist patients with transfers and mobility. Must be able to lift approximately a 200 lb. patient with the help of several other health care workers. Patients are assisted in ambulating from the waiting room to the exam rooms and back. Portable O2 tanks are lifted onto racks from the floor to stretchers or wheelchairs. Must possess the degree of respiratory volume and upper body strength to perform CPR and other patient care treatments. Must be able to stretch, reach, and retrieve equipment from supply carts and to bend to reach equipment stored below the waist. WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Busy collaborative team approach ambulatory setting providing direct patient care to all age patients.
