POSITION OVERVIEW
Our Machine Builder will play a key role in assembling, integrating, and testing automated equipment. The Machine Builder Level 2 will work closely with engineers, electricians, and fellow builders to ensure machines are constructed accurately and efficiently. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and experience working with automation systems.
TOP 5 RESPONSIBILITIES
- Independently assemble more complex machinery and systems, which include electrical and hydraulic components.
- Use precision measuring tools to ensure components are assembled to exact specifications.
- Perform thorough inspections of assembled machines to ensure they meet quality standards.
- Keep precise records of the assembly processes and any modifications that are made.
- Identify and address any issues that arise during the assembly process.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES
- Assemble mechanical components and subassemblies according to engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications.
- Follow standard operating procedures and safety guidelines while handling tools and equipment.
- Work closely with senior builders and engineers to complete projects on schedule.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring tools and parts are properly stored.
- Align, fit, and adjust parts to ensure smooth operation and proper tolerances.
- Assist in the installation of pneumatic, hydraulic, and basic electrical systems within machines.
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical and minor electrical issues during assembly.
- Participate in the testing and debugging of automation systems to ensure they meet quality and performance standards.
- Follow all safety guidelines and best practices to maintain a safe and organized work environment.
- Document assembly processes and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
- 2 plus years’ experience in machine building, mechanical assembly, or a related field
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical school or vocational training is a plus.
- Vocational school or junior technical college training in related industry.
- Ability to climb in overhead structures, to work beneath machines and in close quarters performing noted tasks related to machinery building and repair work.
- Experience working with hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
- Basic understanding of pneumatics, hydraulics, and electrical components in automation systems.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Willingness to learn and grow within the automation industry.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must furnish the basic hand tools of the trade
