Job Title: Operations Manager
Location: Fargo, ND
Schedule: Full time salary position. You will mostly work during Monday – Friday, but you are the manager of the whole operation so you may be required to work weekends and answer your phone at all times in case of emergencies.
Primary Responsibilities
As the operations manager your primary duty is for the efficient daily management of all drivers, routing and fleet maintenance originating from the Fargo, ND base. This includes, but is not limited to, driver safety, managing schedules and time off, making sure routes run on time and efficiently, getting routine preventative maintenance done on all vehicles stationed at your bases, and customer service when it comes to all of our customers. You will report to the Dakotas Manager and the Regional Operations Manager.
Other responsibilities and duties
- Be a leader. You will lead by example and create a strong team working environment.
- You will oversee and help manage locations in ND and SD.
- Manage budgeted labor hours and miles per route.
- Weekly and daily management of labor hours.
- Manage all of your supervisors and make sure that they have the tools and knowledge to help you run a successful base.
- Making sure drivers are inspecting their vehicles before and after route.
- Addressing vehicle issues before they become a large scale issue (ex: oil changes, tire rotation, fixing lights out, etc.)
- Oversight of all drivers, warehouse workers, and supervisors (including, but not limited to, hiring, dismissal, uniforms and appearance, and all other related materials and duties required)
- Required to be able to multi task. This can be a fast paced industry and you must be able to roll with everything that is coming at you.
- Organizing routing from different customers to other bases and locations.
- Be able to come up with solutions to routing issues, such as weather delays, traffic, road construction, accidents, etc.
- Be able to understand the reporting of all of the scanning reports and be able to communicate those findings with the Regional Operations Manager and President of the Company.
- Communication to all employees at your base and all others, along with communication with all of our customers.
- Be able to drive all different types of vehicles (you will be required at times to drive routes or parts of routes when needed)
Qualifications
- Must be 21 years of age.
- Have had a valid driver’s license for a minimum of 3 years.
- Have a valid DOT medical card.
- Pass pre-employment testing (drug screen, DOT physical and background check).
- Have an acceptable MVR as per our company Fleet Safety Policy.
- Be fluent in English both written and spoken.
- Minimum 2 years of management experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 1 year of delivery experience
- Customer service experience
- Forklift experience or certification
- CDL A
PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF JOB
- Ability to lift cases up to 70 pounds on a regular basis
- Ability to push/pull cages filled with auto parts or bulk mail parcels
- Ability to push/pull either 2 wheeler or pallet of cases/tubs
- Ability to operate a pallet jack
