American Elevator Group (AEG) is a reputable group of elevator service companies operating across the United States. Arcline Investment Management supports it and has a significant presence in the elevator industry, focusing on growth. AEG is currently seeking experienced Elevator Helpers for its NYC location. Ideal candidates should have direct experience in elevator maintenance, installations, and renovations.

As a Class "A" Elevator Helper, you will be responsible for assisting and working under the instruction of Class "A" and "B" Elevator mechanics. You will assist with preparing equipment and materials and mechanical operations. Use knowledge and judgment to work efficiently and coordinate with mechanics where errors may cause severe damage or injuries. Listed below are the daily responsibilities of a Repair mechanic, but not limited to:

  • Assist Class "A" and Class "B" Elevator mechanics in their work.
  • Process your part of the work without requiring detailed instructions.
  • Prepare equipment and materials.
  • Dismantle and reassemble machines.
  • Preparing babbit metal, replacing cables, and other machine parts.
  • Clean machines and collect tools for the job.
  • Follow safety standards set by the company.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Environment & Hazards:

  • Working in enclosed spaces, heights, and around heavy equipment.
  • The hazards of the job may include electrical shocks, falls, cuts, and bruises, among others.
  • Potential exposure to hazardous materials or conditions.

To be considered for the position, you must possess the following qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least two to four years of experience in a similar mechanical role.
  • Understanding of basic mechanical concepts and general knowledge of tools.
  • Ability to read and understand basic job specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Possess a New York City Department of Buildings Helper Registration Card.
  • Ability to achieve an OSHA 10 certification within the first 6 months.
  • Ability to work independently as needed and follow instructions.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Can work within the Greater New York City Region.

Special Physical Demands:

  • Working with and the ability to lift heavy equipment, work in tight spaces, and climb ladders or stairs.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects, up to fifty pounds.
  • Manual dexterity for handling small tools and parts.

Work Contact Group:

Moderate contact with regulatory agencies, customers, contractors, and management.
