Position Description:
The Civil/Structural/Architectural (CSA) Engineering Department Leader will lead, develop, and manage the CSA department at Alliance Engineering’s Metairie, Louisiana office. Some of the key responsibilities for this role include:
Leadership:
- Lead and manage a team of civil and structural engineers and designers in the development of drawing packages, calculations, specifications, and reports for the completion of multiple assigned projects.
- Coordinate and delegate assignments to the engineering and design support staff assigned to the department’s projects.
- Assure the execution of all civil, structural, and architectural project deliverables while maintaining technical excellence, supervisory duties, resource allocation, effective communication, and team development.
- Foster a collaborative and productive working environment, promoting innovation and efficiency within the department.
- Define and implement departmental goals, objectives, and strategies aligned with the organization's overall mission and vision.
- Develop and mentor the staff, providing technical guidance, career development, training, and managing performance.
- Oversee the planning, design, and execution of civil and structural engineering projects.
- Allocate resources effectively to ensure the successful execution of projects within budget and schedule, and according to high standards of quality.
- Work within a team environment while fostering a collaborative work environment for team members.
- Organize and schedule teams for executing site visits to acquire and document field data, and to verify the data collected is the correct information needed for the application.
- Contribute to the strategic planning and long-term goals of the CSA department and Alliance Engineering.
- Interface with clients and other supporting consultants to ensure the needs of our clients and our business are met.
Technical Expertise:
- Exhibit an excellent understanding of engineering principles, theories, typical applications, codes, standards, published recommendations, and concepts associated with the civil, structural, and architectural disciplines as required to complete project or system designs.
- Maintain high standards of technical excellence, ensuring that designs are safe, sustainable, and cost-effective.
- Evaluate and apply applicable building and design code requirements (e.g. IBC, ASCE, ACI, AISC). * Use computer software applications as tools for solving structural engineering problems including building 3D analytical structural models.
- Develop technical specifications, plans, and details. * Assist with productions of drawing and engineering scope of work (SOW) packages.
Experience:
Typical experience level for this position is 10 years of relevant Civil/Structural Engineering work.
Certification:
A valid P.E. license is required.
Education:
This position requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil and/or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited University.
Additional Qualifications: The following training and/or experience is typical for this position:
- Experience with structural analysis software (STAAD.Pro) including operating and interpreting results.
- Foundation Design and Analysis software (STAAD Foundation).
- Civil and Structural Calculations (Excel, Tedds, Mathcad, etc.).
- Familiarity with ACI, AISC, ASCE, IBC, OSHA, PIP and other industry standards.
- Demonstrated experience of structural steel design and reinforced concrete design.
- Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team. Experience with the Autodesk Suite of CAD software packages such as AutoCAD, Navisworks, etc.
- Knowledge and experience with computer productivity software such as Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)

Pay: $125,000.00 - $165,000.00 per year
