JOB TITLE: Therapeutic Clinician DEPT: Early Learning Division
REPORTS TO: Mental Health Manager FLSA: Non-Exempt
PROGRAM OVERVIEW: The Trauma-Informed Therapeutic Child Care (TLCC) program at Alliance is designed to support the social, emotional, and cognitive development of children aged 3 to 5 who have been adversely affected by abuse and/or neglect. The program provides trauma-informed care and behavioral interventions, with a focus on strengthening parent-child relationships. The program serves 30 children, divided into two levels based on the intensity of services required.
JOB SUMMARY: The Therapeutic Clinician will deliver trauma-informed mental health services and behavioral health consultation to children and families participating in the TLCC program. The Clinician will work closely with early childhood professionals and caregivers to promote positive outcomes for children, with a focus on building the capacity of the team through consultation and professional development.
CHILDREN SUPERVISION RESPONSIBILITY: Responsible for child supervision and for keeping children safe.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide approximately 4 hours weekly of trauma-informed mental health and behavioral health consultation services to children and families in the TLCC program.
- Conduct individual and group play therapy sessions with children, providing weekly sessions for Level 1 children and monthly or as-needed sessions for Level 2 children.
- Offer classroom observations, management support, and referrals to ensure the effective implementation of trauma-informed strategies.
- Deliver professional development opportunities to early childhood professionals and caregivers to enhance their ability to address children’s behavioral and emotional needs.
- Assist with referrals to additional mental health interventions as necessary.
- Attend monthly Planning Day meetings to discuss individual children’s progress and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
- Master's degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or a related field.
- Licensed mental health professional.
- Experience working with young children and families in a community-based setting.
- Knowledge of and early childhood mental health and the Head Start Program Performance Standards.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work successfully with young children impacted by trauma and/or social-emotional needs.
