Job Overview
The Executive Director will work with the Board of Directors to establish ASAP goals and policies, and is responsible for ASAP strategy, communications, operations, staff, and results. The Executive Director will be a highly visible leader in the community, and a strong advocate for substance use disorder prevention, intervention, treatment, and recovery.
Duties
- Collaborate with community leaders to continually improve Substance Abuse Support System: service providers, law enforcement, court system, health care, social service agencies, faith-based, business leaders, recovery community, etc.
- Determine key performance measures for Substance Abuse Support System.
- Identify and coordinate goals, projects and processes to optimize Substance Abuse Support System.
- Develop long term strategies in coordination with community partners and the Board of Directors towards shared goals.
- Assist/lead Operations and Communications Manager in the development and implementation of community-wide communication plans.
- Act as the face and voice of ASAP on a state and local level.
- Identify and coordinate goals and projects to promote awareness, education, and prevention of substance use disorders; e.g. the goal of eliminating stigmas associated with substance use disorders.
- Assist/Lead ASAP Hub Manager in developing the strategies, start-up, and operating plans.
- Recruit, build, supervise and develop an outstanding team.
- Evaluate staff performance, use team building and motivational techniques, and additional training, to continually improve professionalism and performance.
- Create annual work plan and goals for self and team.
- Create and maintain relationships with City of Columbus Mayor and City Council and Bartholomew County Commissioners and County Council members to steward and maintain public support for ASAP, Inc. activities and staffing.
- With the Mayor’s office, manage the annual process of the Substance Abuse Accountability and Advisory Committee (SAAAC) and the Substance Abuse Public Funding Board (SAPFB) to ensure timely consideration of ASAP funding requests, aligned with the public budget timelines.
- With the City and County leaders, facilitate community organization requests for Opioid Settlement funds to ensure that evidence-based and necessary interventions are considered by the SAAAC & SAPFB.
- Responsible for financial plan and operational cost management.
- Develop plan with City and County officials for annual financial support of ASAP.
- Work with ASAP Board to develop a sustainable cost model and framework for ongoing funding.
- Seek and apply for appropriate grant opportunities
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with state leaders and other cities/counties in our region especially Columbus and Bartholomew County elected officials, as well as community, regional, and state human and social service resources.
Requirements
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree required; Masters’ Degree preferred
- Minimum 10 years of related experience in business and/or human and social services field
- Management or supervisory experience required
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Must have a valid U.S. driver’s license and proof of insurance.

- Ability and willingness to effectively use other job-related technology tools, including but not limited to: Image scanners, fax machines, and photocopiers, Multi-Line Phone System.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
