Job Summary: The Regional Nurse Consultant for Long-Term Care provides expert clinical and regulatory guidance to nursing staff and management teams across multiple long-term care facilities within a specific geographic region. This position ensures compliance with state and federal regulations, promotes best practices in patient care, and offers ongoing education and support to improve the quality of care delivered to residents.
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Clinical Oversight & Consultation:
- Provide expert clinical guidance on complex care issues and resident care plans across multiple long-term care facilities.
- Review and assess patient care protocols to ensure they meet regulatory standards and best practices.
- Work closely with facility directors and nursing staff to ensure quality patient outcomes and safety.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure facilities are in compliance with state, federal, and local regulations, including CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services) requirements.
- Conduct regular audits, inspections, and assessments to identify potential regulatory issues.
- Prepare and support facilities during state and federal surveys, addressing any deficiencies found.
Staff Training & Education:
- Develop, implement, and conduct educational programs for nursing staff to improve knowledge and compliance with nursing standards and regulations.
- Provide ongoing mentoring and coaching to nursing staff to improve clinical skills and foster a culture of quality care.
- Stay updated on the latest evidence-based practices, regulations, and industry trends to keep staff informed.
Quality Improvement & Risk Management:
- Work with facility leadership teams to identify areas for improvement in clinical care and operational efficiency.
- Assist in the development and implementation of quality improvement initiatives, focusing on enhancing resident care and satisfaction.
- Support risk management strategies to minimize clinical errors and enhance patient safety.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Foster strong relationships with facility leadership, staff, residents, families, and other healthcare professionals to ensure cohesive care.
- Serve as a resource for problem-solving and resolving clinical challenges or issues in the facility.
- Communicate regularly with regional leadership to report on progress, challenges, and outcomes.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of clinical care, audits, and regulatory compliance in accordance with company and regulatory standards.
- Provide written reports on facility performance, regulatory compliance, and quality metrics to senior leadership.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Master’s degree or advanced certification in healthcare administration or nursing management is a plus.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role within long-term care or skilled nursing settings.
- In-depth knowledge of state and federal healthcare regulations, including CMS guidelines.
- Experience with quality assurance, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
Skills:
