What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Accounting Analyst (Hybrid, North Carolina Based) position at Alliance Health?
The Sr. Accounting Analyst is responsible for the detailed analysis, accuracy and reconciliation of the financial statements of the organization.
This position will allow the successful candidate to work a primarily remote schedule. Up to two days a week working onsite from the Alliance Home office (Morrisville, North Carolina) is required.
Responsibilities & Duties
Analysis of Financial Statements
- Complete monthly analysis of Board Reports explaining trends and budget vs actuals for the SVP, Sr Director and the Accounting Manager
- Work with the subject matter experts to understand fluctuations and make corrections on errors discovered
- Work with the subject matter experts when requests are made by management to adjust the Financial Statements to better fit the needs of the Organization
- Ensure ratios are being calculated per contractual requirements and Financial Statements are presenting accurate information
- Assist the department with audit requests
Financial Reporting Template Management and Analysis
- Be the subject matter expert for DHHSs Financial Reporting template understanding the requirements for compiling the template
- Work with the Accounting Department to communicate changes needed to the template to align the business processes with the DHHS expectations for reporting
- Review proposed changes to the template by DHHS and provide feedback
- Responsible for reviewing changes make to the template by DHHS to ensure processes, journal entries and compilation of the template are changed accordingly
- Complete an analysis of the template on a monthly basis explaining trends to the SVP, Sr Director and the Accounting Manager
- Document any fluctuations in trends or material information that State should know in the Financial Reporting Template
- Prepare responses to DHHS for questions related to the template
- Attend calls with DHHS that relate to the template
Balance Sheet Reconciliations and Analysis
- Ensure detailed reconciliations are kept for each balance sheet account along with supporting documentation
- On a quarterly basis complete a detailed analysis of balance sheet accounts
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to resolve balances that are not clearing timely
- Collaborate with the department to correct error
- Develop a formal review and approval process
Minimum Requirements
Education & Experience
Required:
Associates degree in accounting, business administration, or related field and five (5) years of accounting/auditing experience in the preparation of interpretive, analytical accounting/financial statements and reports, or in governmental financial systems;
Or
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration or related field and three (3) years of accounting/auditing experience in the preparation of interpretive, analytical accounting/financial statements and reports, or in governmental financial systems.
Preferred:
Prior experience in Managed Care preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
- Ability to monitor and collect and analyze data and to assess the accuracy and integrity of data.
- Ability to interpret and evaluate results, prepare documentation, and create financial reports and/or presentations.
- Ability to communicate information to individuals or groups and deliver presentations suited to the characteristics and needs of the audience. Ability to clearly and concisely convey information orally or in writing to individuals or groups to ensure that they understand the information and the message. Ability to listen and respond appropriately to others.
- Ability to review and edit the work of others. Ability to convey and/or consult on issues of a moderately complex nature in a clear, concise, and organized manner.
- Ability to establish effective working relationships that foster organizational success. Ability to modify delivery, language, or content to suit the characteristics and needs of the audience.
Employment for this position is contingent upon a satisfactory background check and credit check, which will be performed after acceptance of an offer of employment and prior to the employee's start date.
Salary Range
$66,240 -$84,456/Annually
Exact compensation will be determined based on the candidate's education, experience, external market data and consideration of internal equity.
