In order to appropriately accomplish his/her duties, the person occupying this position will be required to maintain effective relationships with the professional clinical staff, Shelby County Division of Corrections staff and the clients of Alliance Healthcare Services.

Prolonged standing and walking; lifting, turning patients and equipment. Heavy Work - Exerting up to 150 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 75 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 30 pounds of force constantly to move objects. (May be further defined as "with or without assistance.").

Key Job Responsibilities
- Provision of face-to-face clinical services to meet the needs of incarcerated individuals within Shelby County Division of Corrections Said services may include psychosocial education, individual therapy, group therapy, suicide prevention and intake assessments.
- Collaborate with correctional staff, healthcare providers to make recommendations regarding the treatment of clients.
- To participate in multidisciplinary team meetings for the development of treatment plan and therapy progress.
- Complete relevant clinical documentation, including clinical service reports and mental health treatment records, in a timely and professional manner.
- To provide clinical backup for other Mental Health Specialists.
- To comply with policies and procedures as outlined in AHS’s policy and procedure manual.
- Other duties may be assigned by supervisor(s) to meet the needs of the consumer and AHS.
- Must be eligible for any/all credentialing required by regulatory and funding sources.
- Experience with seriously and persistently mentally ill consumers strongly preferred, as is experienced in a publicly funded service setting.
- This person must also demonstrate an ability to work effectively in a treatment setting dealing with emotionally or socially disturbed individuals.
- The Mental Health Specialist must demonstrate the ability to use mature judgment in problem resolution, to function creatively in evolving appropriate treatment strategies for detainees in Shelby County Division Corrections.
- Excellent writing skills are required as is the ability to conceptualize and document clinical treatment goals, activities and outcomes.
