What are the responsibilities and job description for the Admissions Clerk-PRN/On Call position at Alliance Healthcare System?
Duties and Responsibilities
· Interviews patient or representatives to obtain and record name, address, age, religion, persons to notify in case of emergency, attending physician, and individual or insurance company responsible for payment of bill.
· Assists in processing documents for insurance coverage and for transferring patients.
· Performs the functions of the switchboard including handling outside and inside calls, requests for information, operating the paging system, and providing related assistance and record keeping service.
· Reviews of hospital admissions to ensure accurate financial and biographical data and documentation have been obtained and properly entered into the hospital records.
· Enter patient admitting information into computer and routes printed copy to designated department.
· Verification of eligibility & benefits through calls to insurance
· Responsible for retrieving verification of all patient insurance coverage; primary, secondary and tertiary.
· Responsible for the input of insurance verification notes into the company computer system and scanning them in the system.
· Ability to determine benefits using online verification tools.
· Obtains signatures on all necessary insurance forms, assignments, etc
· Perform any other duties as may be assigned.
Requirements and Qualifications
· High school diploma or equivalent required.
· Associate’s degree or equivalent practical experience preferred
· 1 - 3 years of experience in a insurance verification
· Strong analytical, oral, written communication skills.
· Familiarity with Azalea and CPSI EPM.
· Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and the like.
