Responsibilities
- Team Leadership & Development: Inspire and mentor a high-performing team of electrical and firmware engineers. Cultivate an environment that encourages innovation and continuous improvement.
- Project Oversight: Lead the design, development, and testing of advanced electrical systems and components. Ensure all projects meet budget, schedule, and quality targets.
- Technology Strategy: Create and sustain a forward-thinking technology roadmap, staying ahead of industry trends and technological advancements.
- Executive Communication: Regularly present project updates, technical challenges, and strategic initiatives to the executive team.
- Budget & Resource Management: Lead the planning of annual budgets and resource forecasts in alignment with organizational objectives.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with mechanical engineering, software engineering, product management, operations, procurement, and manufacturing to ensure seamless product integration and development.
- Best Practices Advocacy: Promote and integrate best practices in electrical and firmware engineering, including design methodologies, AI integration, and documentation standards.
- Performance Metrics: Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for the team and individual contributors.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Management, or Mechanical Engineering preferred
- A minimum of 10 years of engineering experience, with at least 6 years of leadership experience.
Skills and Abilities:
- In-depth technical expertise in firmware/software development, electrical engineering principles, design, and analysis.
- Demonstrated success in managing and leading engineering teams, with responsibilities including hiring, mentoring, and performance management.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, capable of conveying complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences, including executive leadership.
- Strategic thinking and planning capabilities, with proven experience in developing and executing long-term technology roadmaps.
- Solid business acumen including expertise in financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Experience with project management methodologies and tools.
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations.
- Ability to influence, drive consensus, and build collaboration across all levels of the organization.
- Experience with firmware design and best coding practices
Travel:
- Travel on an as-needed basis, up to 15% of the time.
