Position: Drupal Developer (Independent Contractor)
Hours: 10 hours per week
Location: Remote
Contract Type: Independent Contractor
ACSESS- is seeking an experienced Drupal Developer to support our web development needs. This role requires expertise in Drupal module development, customization, and server management. The contractor will work approximately 10 hours per week to maintain and enhance our Drupal-based systems.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, customize, and maintain Drupal modules to support ASA’s digital presence.
- Manage and optimize server environments to ensure high performance and security.
- Work with MySQL databases for data integrity, optimization, and troubleshooting.
- Perform site upgrades, security updates, and module patching as needed.
- Collaborate with internal teams to implement new features and troubleshoot issues.
- Provide technical guidance and documentation for internal stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Drupal Developer.
- Strong expertise in Drupal module development and customization.
- Experience with server setup and management, including hosting environments.
- Proficiency in MySQL, including database administration and performance tuning.
- Familiarity with best practices in security, performance optimization, and scalability.
- Ability to work independently and communicate effectively in a remote environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with Drupal 9/10.
- Knowledge of Linux server environments.
- Familiarity with CI/CD workflows and version control systems (Git, etc.).
- Experience with third-party API integrations within Drupal.

The Alliance of Crop, Soil, and Environmental Science Societies (ACSESS) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization providing management and administrative support services to its founding members: the American Society of Agronomy (ASA), Crop Science Society of America (CSSA), and Soil Science Society of America (SSSA). The headquarters office for these international Societies is based in Madison, Wisconsin. ACSESS publishes a collection of relevant and timely content on behalf of the ASA, CSSA and SSSA and in partnership with Wiley. With content dating back to 1907, the collection contains 13 high quality scholarly journals, seven hybrid subscription titles and six Gold Open Access titles. The collection also includes a library containing more than 340 books, two magazines and online annual meetings presentations for researchers, professionals, and students.
