Job Title: Lead Systems Administrator

Type: Direct Hire

Work Location: Remote

Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Google Cloud, Okta, CompTIA Security , CISSP, ITIL, or similar) are highly desirable.
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in IT system administration or management, with a focus on cloud-based environments (preferably Google Workspace and Okta).
  • Proven experience as a system administrator or IT manager handling a diverse tech stack, including cloud platforms, membership platforms, and security infrastructure.
  • At least 3 years of experience leading or supervising technical teams, including providing guidance, troubleshooting, and training.
  • Demonstrated success in managing large IT projects, from design and deployment through to post-implementation support.
  • Experience in managing and optimizing IT infrastructure and applications, including vendor relations and evaluating new technologies.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in managing and administering Google Workspace (formerly G Suite) and Okta environments, with a solid understanding of security protocols and integrations.
  • Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, cloud platforms, and system administration across multiple tech stacks and applications.
  • Experience with IT security best practices, vulnerability management, and incident response.
  • Skilled in project management, with the ability to oversee multiple tech projects related to membership, partnership, and community experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of AI tools and emerging technologies, with the ability to assess, integrate, and leverage these technologies to improve business operations.
  • Expertise in designing, deploying, and optimizing IT systems and services, ensuring scalability, efficiency, and high performance.

Leadership & Management Skills:

  • Proven leadership abilities to supervise, mentor, and guide the Technical Support Team.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to strategically lead initiatives and collaborate with other departments to align IT projects with organizational goals.
  • Strong decision-making skills, with the ability to evaluate technical solutions and make recommendations based on cost, productivity, and security considerations.
  • Vendor & Relationship Management:
  • Demonstrated ability to manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met.
  • Experience in assessing, testing, and implementing new software solutions to improve business processes.

Problem Solving & Analytical Skills:

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to monitor system performance and optimize IT infrastructure for cost and productivity improvements.
  • Ability to assess current systems, define strategies for future improvements, and implement long-term solutions for the organization.

Security & Risk Management:

  • Deep understanding of cybersecurity principles, including network security, data protection, and risk management.
  • Ability to lead security initiatives and implement measures that protect organizational data and systems from threats.
  • Automation & Continuous Improvement:
  • Experience with process automation to enhance operational efficiency, particularly in community engagement and user experience.
  • A proactive approach to identifying areas for improvement and driving continuous advancements in technology and system performance.

Job Overview

The Lead Systems Administrator will play a critical role in managing and securing the organization's IT infrastructure, with primary responsibilities spanning the Google and Okta environments, tech stack applications, and team membership platforms. The individual will serve as the lead administrator for membership and partnership tech projects, ensuring the security posture of the organization while driving the implementation and management of strategic tech initiatives. As the leader of the Technical Support Team, the Lead Systems Administrator will oversee troubleshooting, performance monitoring, and continuous improvements of IT systems. This role also involves staying up-to-date with emerging technologies, including AI tools, and applying this knowledge to enhance operational efficiency.

Essential Job Responsibilities

System Administration:

  • Oversee and manage the Google and Okta environments, ensuring smooth operation, security, and optimal performance.
  • Administer and maintain tech stack applications, ensuring they function efficiently and align with organizational needs.
  • Serve as the lead administrator for the team membership platform, ensuring its scalability, security, and functionality.

Security & Strategy Management:

  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the organization's overall security posture.
  • Drive the security strategy across all systems and platforms to mitigate risks and ensure data protection.
  • Own and manage all security initiatives, ensuring compliance with best practices and industry standards.

Leadership & Team Management:

  • Supervise and provide leadership to the Technical Support Team, ensuring high performance and effective resolution of technical issues.
  • Foster a collaborative, solution-driven work environment within the team, ensuring timely and quality technical support.

Project Leadership & Strategy:

  • Strategically lead and support the implementation of tech projects, specifically those related to membership and partnership platforms.
  • Lead large IT projects, including the design, deployment, and ongoing management of new IT systems and services.
  • Drive improvements in community experience by leveraging automation tools and systems.

Technology & Vendor Management:

  • Stay up-to-date on emerging technologies, AI tools, and industry developments, integrating relevant innovations into the organization's tech landscape.
  • Assess vendors critically, ensuring they meet organizational requirements, and develop test strategies for new software.
  • Manage and maintain relationships with tech stack vendors, ensuring optimal service delivery and contract performance.

Infrastructure & Performance Optimization:

  • Define and refine the IT infrastructure strategy, architecture, and processes to ensure scalability, efficiency, and security.
  • Monitor the performance of IT systems, identifying cost and productivity levels, and recommending enhancements to improve infrastructure.
  • Continuous Improvement:
  • Continuously analyze and optimize the organization's tech infrastructure, suggesting solutions that enhance cost-efficiency and productivity.
  • Leverage emerging technology to streamline operations, improve user experience, and enhance overall organizational performance.
