Port Drayage Dispatcher

Job Description

The role of the port drayage dispatcher is to manage the freight for a specific customer base within a team environment. This is accomplished by gaining an understanding of customer requirements as well as developing relationships with our network of carriers. The port drayage dispatcher oversees and manages the scheduling, coordination, and communication of container shipments between the Ports of Charleston and Savannah and the designated Distribution Centers (DC). The ideal candidate will ensure smooth and timely delivery processes, maintain effective communication with carriers and customers, and manage container logistics for optimal operational efficiency.

Job Responsibilities

· Coordinate and schedule loaded container deliveries from Ports of Charleston and Savannah to DCs

· Monitor and manage the timely movement of loaded containers from the ports, and returning empty to the ports - and ensure compliance with the Last Free Day of containers both at ports and at the DCs

· Resolve any service issues by clarifying the customer’s requirements, determining the cause of the problem, choosing and communicating the best solution to resolve the problem, and following up to ensure resolution

· Collaborate with brokers to resolve any port-related issues

· Prepare reports by collecting and analyzing customer/carrier information

· Send delivery orders, necessary documentation, and communicate daily with carriers to direct their activities

· Ensure that all customer requirements and expectations regarding container delivery and scheduling are met

Qualifications

· Excellent communication and customer service skills

· Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel and Word)

· Ability to self-motivate and multi-task

· Previous transportation experience preferred

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $26.44 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
