About the Job
This is administrative and supervisory work directing the work related to overall customer service. The work is performed under the general supervision of the local manager.
Required Qualifications: Missouri Water Distribution III
Preferred Qualifications: CDL Class B with air brake endorsement, Missouri Drinking Water D, MO Wastewater Treatment D, Supervisory skills
Monday-Friday 7:00 a.m.- 3:30 p.m.
Essential Functions/Work Performed Statements:
This list is not comprehensive, but indicates duties and responsibilities which may be redefined pursuant to operational needs:
- Supervises, directs, evaluates and trains staff to effectively and efficiently read and record water meters, report water meter problems and complete normal customer requests such as turn-on, turn-off, and transfers of service.
- Resolves public inquiries and complaints involving meter reading.
- Processes meter changes and log service accounts to maintain accurate records.
- Reviews daily reports with meter readers to ensure accuracy and processes any necessary changes.
- Assigns routes and accounts based on client billing schedule and other related criteria.
- Assigns daily work to staff for completion based on area and time required for completion.
- Prepares budget requests; oversees inventory; controls expenditure of budgeted funds when ordering parts.
- Maintains and prepares reports related to customer service activities.
- Communicates with client, staff, customers, contractors/developers, and employees regarding meter reading, customer service requests, and general water system issues.
- Assures proper safety standards and precautions are followed and that all safety equipment is available and in good working condition according to company policy and the equipment manuals.
- Plans, prepares, conducts and records monthly safety meetings as directed based on company policy.
- Supervises and performs routine building maintenance, water sample collection, and other individual service requests to comply with federal, state, local, and company regulations and guidelines.
- Assists in personnel actions including the hiring process and employee evaluations; responds to complaints and grievances; coordinates the completion of time sheets and other payroll data.
- Participates in and promotes related professional association activities; stays knowledgeable of new developments in materials, equipment and processes to ensure effective and efficient operation of the system.
- Performs related duties as needed or assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities-Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from high school and four years of experience in customer service, water treatment, operation, and maintenance, including considerable supervisory experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience which would provide the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Knowledge of standard practices, methods, tools, materials, and equipment of customer service activities.
- Knowledge of federal, state, local, and company regulations governing water system operations.
- Knowledge of safety standards and precautions related to water system issues.
- Ability to effectively supervise personnel.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with employees, clients, vendors, agents, and the general public.
- Ability to resolve problems in stressful conditions using sound judgment.
- Ability to operate computers and related programs.
- Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment associated with meter reading and customer service activities.
- Ability to demonstrate basic mechanical, mathematical, and plumbing experience.
- Possess a valid Missouri driver’s license or an appropriate level CDL as necessary.
- Possess a valid Missouri Class “C” water certification.
