Job Summary
The Manager, Medical/Surgical oversees the daily operations of the Med/Surg unit, ensuring high-quality patient care, staff engagement, and operational efficiency. Essential Functions
- Supervises and evaluates nursing care delivery, ensuring adherence to evidence-based practices and organizational standards.
- Leads quality improvement initiatives, leveraging data to identify opportunities and implement changes that enhance patient safety and satisfaction.
- Develops and implements tactical action plans to achieve departmental and organizational goals, ensuring accountability and measurable results.
- Facilitates interdisciplinary collaboration to resolve issues, optimize workflows, and support the development of new programs or services.
- Monitors departmental performance metrics, including patient outcomes, employee engagement, and financial targets, implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Oversees staff recruitment, training, and professional development to build a skilled and committed nursing team.
- Ensures compliance with hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and accreditation standards, developing and updating departmental policies as needed.
- Manages daily operations, including resource allocation, scheduling, and budgeting, to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.
- Performs case reviews, addresses patient concerns, and resolves escalated issues to maintain high levels of patient satisfaction.

Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Nursing required
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred
- 3-5 years of acute care nursing experience required
- 1-3 years of leadership or management experience in a Med/Surg or acute care setting preferred
