Job Summary
Alliant Energy is currently seeking a proven leader for our Ottumwa Generating Station in Ottumwa, IA. This role will lead a strong team of operations plant employees in Ottumwa. As the leader in this role, you will regularly engage with union leadership. Knowledge of bargaining unit contract will be beneficial.
The Manager of Operations, will manage and provide leadership and are responsible for planning, directing, and implementing all assigned operations activities in a safe and environmentally conscious manner with a keen focus on continuously improving competitive position and profitability. This position serves as a member of a plant's management team.

- Performs all leadership duties, including hiring and rewarding talent, fostering an inclusive and safe workplace, partnering with employees to set clear goals and expectations, providing timely and specific feedback on performance, developing improvement plans to address performance gaps, addressing conflict with care and respect, identifying opportunities for growth and development, embracing and modeling a mindset of lifelong learning, ensuring employees report to work fit for duty, adhering to our Code of Conduct, and modeling Alliant Energy’s Core Values at all times.
- Directly participates in the development of plant specific goals and objectives.
- Continuously monitors performance results against financial and operating goals and communicates the information to employees.
- May have responsibility for leading maintenance activities and personnel.
- Ensures that employees understand and accept business unit and plant/unit financial and operating goals and focus efforts on achieving goals.
- Participates in the plant budget planning, forecasting, and reconciling processes.
- Demonstrates leadership in the area of safety, including observing and enforcing safety rules and operating practices, encouraging safe work behaviors, and promptly correcting conditions and unsafe work behaviors which may lead to accidents.
- Acts as the ultimate decision‐maker during life‐threatening emergency situations involving facilities, people, and property.
- Leads and promotes the establishment, acceptance, and implementation of operating policies, process performance, and procedures and activities that maximize financial and operating results.
- Recommends improvements and changes to operating procedures, policies, and processes.
- Engages in other duties as needed that support Alliant Energy’s Values and helps deliver on our Purpose to serve customers and build stronger communities.
Education Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree Emphasis in engineering, business administration, or related area Preferred
Required Experience
- 5 years of related experience
- 3 years supervisory experience or equivalent. (Equivalent supervisory experiences may include project management, providing work direction, leadership experience through temporary assignments, roles in the community or external organizations, or other demonstrated leadership experience.)
Preferred Experience
- Experience in manufacturing or mechanical/electrical engineering

Pay Range:
$104,000.00 - $143,000.00
This position is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program. The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to the responsibilities of the position, experience, skill set, internal pay equity and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.
