Job Summary
Manager Substation Technical Support manages basic to complex construction, testing, operations, and maintenance of substation and generation supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems, power transformers, system protection equipment, and communications network equipment.
What you will do

- Responsible for the development and oversight of testing, commissioning, and maintaining substation and generation protective relays, power transformers, SCADA equipment and communications equipment.
- Manages the coordination of teamwork schedules with project management group and other operational managers.
- Maintains a close working relationship with other technical and engineering departments to ensure the free flow of technical information and support between departments.
- Demonstrates leadership in the area of safety, including observing and enforcing safety rules and operating practices, encouraging safe work behaviors, and promptly correcting conditions and unsafe work behaviors which may lead to accidents.
- Responsible for 24 / 7 emergency response back-up in assigned process – e.g., widespread electrical outages or gas emergencies – including assessing risks and costs, determining labor resources, assisting with resource deployment, assisting in managing callout procedures, and monitoring performance measures for employees or contractors involved with emergency response.
- Understands, interprets, and manages relationships and contracts with service providers.
- Possesses in‐depth knowledge of company labor agreements to ensure proper negotiation and implementation of work rules.
- Provides leadership of staff and ensures compliance with applicable regulations such as NERC (PRC2, PRC5), as well as Testing & Commissioning requirements.
- Engages in other duties as needed that support Alliant Energy’s Values and helps deliver on our Purpose to serve customers and build stronger communities.

The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to the responsibilities of the position, experience, skill set, internal pay equity and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.
