The Impact You'll Have:
As a Construction Inspector, you'll have the chance to provide inspection support for the construction of roadways, bridges, and related transportation projects located in the state of Minnesota. Advance your career by being exposed to a variety of inspection work on construction projects to ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with project inspection and oversight
- Verify conformance with plans and specifications
- Prepare pay estimates and maintain detailed project records for private, city, county, MnDOT, and federal projects.
- Coordinate materials testing activities and perform quantity calculations and produce project record documentation
- Learn design and project review tasks with assistance of other experienced construction inspection staff, which include plan and specification constructability reviews, plan tabulation development and layouts
- Assist with private and public utility coordination activities and perform basic survey and design calculations
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years experience in roadway construction inspection or related field required
- Strong knowledge of civil construction practices, materials, and applicable codes/regulations
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities, organization and multi-tasking skills
- Proficient in inspection tools and software, as well as Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent technical, written and oral communication skills
- Ability to interpret civil construction plans, specifications, and schedules
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in construction technology, construction management or engineering
- Ability to perform work on Microstation or AutoCAD a plus
- MnDOT Technical Certifications and experience with Federal and State Aid projects is preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and uneven terrain
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
