Responsibilities:
Perform a variety of clinical laboratory procedures including nucleic acid
extraction and quantification, quantitative realtime-PCR, and next-
generation sequencing pursuant to established protocols.
Perform both manual and automated techniques to accomplish high volume
sample processing.
Participate in equipment maintenance, QC/QA, and proficiency testing
procedures.
Provide detailed, accurate and legible documentation associated with test
results, maintenance records, and quality control.
Troubleshoot assays as needed to assist laboratories both onsite and
remote
Assist with the validation of new assays.
Complete other laboratory tasks as assigned
Serve as remote technical supervisor for laboratories; responsible for QA/QC
review monthly
Adhere and ensure laboratory staff are adhering to OSHA, HIPAA, and other
safety practices.
Identify and report unsafe equipment, conditions and practices so that they
may be corrected prior to an incident
Performs calibration and quality control samples according to procedure
Ensures troubleshooting is performed when calibrators/quality controls fail
and properly documented
Ensuring accuracy and precision of quality control data and patient results
Draft SOPs, laboratory forms and validation summary reports
Job Qualifications:
MB(ASCP) or MDT (AMT) Certification Preferred
Master of Science degree in biology or molecular biology preferred, other
related majors will also be considered.
At least three years of experience in a molecular diagnostic laboratory.
Familiarity with high throughput real time PCR techniques using
QuantStudio/ Biorad CFX platforms
Familiarity with next generation sequencing on the Illumina platform is
preferred.
Detail-oriented and able to exercise independent judgment.
Self-starter, works with a focused sense of urgency to resolve issues and
complete tasks.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Physical requirements: work requires some physical effort. Lifting or
performing other work requiring light physical exertion (up to 30 pounds) is
required.
