JOB OVERVIEW
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction and/or mechanical estimating and project management, with the ability to analyze contracts, build accurate price estimates, and ensure cost control throughout the project lifecycle. This role is essential in supporting our construction management efforts and ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Review and evaluate cost estimates
- Consistently develop estimates that accurately reflect scope of work
- Communicate and document the estimate scope, details, approach, and identify unique risks and opportunities
- Communicate with trade partners and Alliant personnel regarding new and current projects
- Complete take-offs to gather information for estimate
- Timely completion of estimates
- Produce conceptual drawings for plumbing and HVAC systems
- Manage bid pricing from vendors
- Performs with a sense of urgency to meet estimate deliverables
- Establish and maintain good working relationships with vendors and co-workers
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- 3 years mechanical estimating experience
- Engineering and/or design experience with plumbing and mechanical systems
- Comprehensive knowledge of mechanical systems principles and applications
- Understanding of ductwork manufacturing and SMACNA standards
- Understanding of piping and plumbing systems
- A track record of delivering complete, accurate, timely, and detailed estimates
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Proficient in performing quantitative take-off’s
- Experience evaluating and applying labor productivity factors, establishing general conditions, and determining site logistic approaches to integrate into the overall cost basis for each estimate
- Good problem-solving skills
- Strong math skills
- Knowledge of building codes
- Ability to take initiative, respond to issues, constraints, and opportunities
- Detail oriented – able to drill down without losing sight of the big picture
- Strong personal management and organizational skills
- Creative thinker with ability to work in a close-in environment
- Perform additional tasks as assigned
