About the Role
Allied Engineering and Design (AED) is seeking a Project Manager for a contract role supporting Chesapeake Utilities on the Worcester Resiliency Project—a peaking LNG storage facility currently entering the construction phase. This role is a backfill for an internal PM recently promoted and will report directly to that individual.
This role will be based out of Swedesboro, NJ, with 25-50% travel required to client sites in Worcester County, MD, and Dover, DE. The initial contract term is through the end of the year, with the potential for extension.
Project Overview

- Scope: Peaking LNG storage facility (no liquefaction)
- Estimated Total Installed Cost (TIC): $80M
- Key Project Details:
- (5) 100,000-gallon tanks (Manufactured in South Korea, currently in transit)
- 50-800 PSI compression
- RFP currently out to mechanical contractors
- Facility ties into the Eastern Shore Transmission Pipeline (Chesapeake Utilities)
- Regulated by the Department of Energy
Key Responsibilities
- Manage project execution as it enters the construction phase.
- Oversee contractors, schedules, budgets, and project milestones.
- Coordinate with engineering, construction, and regulatory teams to ensure compliance with Department of Energy regulations.
- Provide technical oversight related to LNG storage, compression systems, and pipeline integration.
- Support vendor selection and contract negotiations.
- Conduct site visits (25-50% travel) to oversee progress and address field challenges.
- Communicate project updates to internal stakeholders and clients.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering preferred; other disciplines considered with relevant experience).
- 5-20 years of relevant experience in project management, engineering, and fieldwork.
- Field experience in construction or engineering project execution.
- Strong understanding of LNG storage, compression, and transmission systems.
- Ability to manage contractors and vendors throughout the project lifecycle.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills to coordinate cross-functional teams.
Work Environment & Expectations
- Location: Swedesboro, NJ office with frequent travel to client sites in Worcester County, MD, and Dover, DE.
- Schedule: Monday – Friday, standard business hours (9 AM – 5 PM). Work hours dictated by Chesapeake Utilities.
- Compensation: $60 - $70 per hour (Flexible Based on Experience).
- Contract Duration: Full-time contract role through end of the year, with potential for extension based on project needs.
