Medical Assistant Back
The successful candidate will possess at least 1-2 years of relevant experience, or alternatively have equivalent experience in an internal medicine primary care office. For some medical assistant positions, certification is required (CMA/RMA). For front office medical assistant positions, an emphasis or background in medical billing and coding is preferred. For call center medical assistants, experience in a high-volume call center environment is preferred.
We use a fully electronic medical record system, so a computer savvy individual that is capable of multi-tasking and handling a variety of applications is critical. Prior experience with an electronic medical record is required, especially direct experience with the eClinical EMR System.
Front Office Medical Assistants are responsible for patient triage and initial intake, responding to walk-in patients" clinical needs, receiving and placing clinical telephone calls, relaying of diagnostic and other testing results, coordinating the scanning, indexing and retrieval of clinical documents, processing medical records using our electronic health records system, processing referrals and pre-certifications to other facilities for quality care, responding to the needs of our physicians and other health care providers, working well in a team environment, and other duties as required.
Back Office Medical Assistants are responsible for care delivery to our patients and assisting our physicians and mid-level providers with triage, vital signs, chief complaints, in-office procedures (EKG, Spirometry, Holter, Injections, Phlebotomy, etc.), as well as assisting in patient exams and minor surgical procedures. Medical Assistants also handle incoming and outgoing clinical related telephone calls from and to our patients. Medical Assistants also handle message taking and care delivery to walk-in and unscheduled patients. Most Back Office Medical Assistants are first trained and master the Front Office Medical Assistant position and duties.
Team work and interpersonal skills are very important and all candidates must complete a thorough interview process, background investigation, as well as a screening for drugs.
