POSITION TITLE:  Production Assembly Operator

PAY GRADE:  Non-Exempt / Grade 2

BUSINESS UNIT:  Industrial Business Unit                  Dept:14-Industrial Assembly

REPORTS TO:  Supervisor-Production

PURPOSE:  An effective Production Assembly Operator holds safety as a value. Demonstrates safe work practices in all they do and has no hesitation notifying anyone of an unsafe situation. Can work as a cohesive team and has the skill to identify problems and recommend improvements to provide quality, on time products to our customers.

1.0   DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES: 

1. Follow all company safety guidelines, practices, and procedures. This includes the proper use of personal protective equipment when required.
2. Consistently meet production schedule plan and attainment goals.
3. Read work orders and production schedule to ensure conformance to customer specifications.
4. Ability to learn different equipment/operations and able to rotate to all workstations within the area.
5. Start and shutdown machines and monitor their operations, restocking materials as required.
6. Maintain a constant visual on parts produced and perform visual quality audits to determine all surfaces are within standards and that all parts required are in place before packing the part.
7. Follow company policies and procedures.
8. Always maintain cleanliness of equipment and workstation areas.
9. Determine and report product quality issues to appropriate parties.
10. Work with team members to maximize productivity and efficiency.
11. Targeted reduction in waste of all forms (time, materials, labor).
12. Communicate effectively with supervisors, group leads and business unit managers.
13. Ability to use hand tools, wrenches, screwdriver, and vice-grip, etc.
14. Creating and continually improving upon a culture of teamwork, accountability, and trust by modeling expectations and providing positive feedback to drive desired behaviors.
15. Documenting and submitting performance reporting as required.
16. Gaining knowledge and keeping up to date on safety and quality regulatory notices.
17. Responsible for maintaining regular and reliable attendance and punctuality per company policies and procedures.
18. Performing other duties, as assigned.

3.0    EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum High School Diploma, GED or one-year equivalent experience required.
• Prior experience working in a manufacturing setting preferred.
• Experience operating hand tools a plus.
• Capable of growing in knowledge and demonstrating competency in your job.

4.0    MENTAL / VISUAL REQUIREMENT:

• Ability to communicate well in both verbal and written forms.
• Ability to generate reporting documents and participate in team meetings.
• Self-motivated with ability to multi-task in a fast-paced production environment.
• Good general ability with use of computer touch screens and written documents.
• Basic math skills, ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

5.0   PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• The ability to stand while operating assembly equipment for extended periods of time, walk, use hands to feel or handle objects, tools, or controls
• Reach and lift with hands and arms; talk, see and hear.
• The associate will work in a production setting and may repeatedly/occasionally be required to perform repetitive work tasks.
• Use of hands and wrists continuously.
• Must be able to carry, push, pull or lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
• Engage in frequent bending, stooping, squatting, and pulling of parts.
• The associate may need to be available for extended shift hours if needed and assist in emergency situations.
• Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice, based on operational needs.

6.0    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Due to the open environment of the building, must be able to work in various temperatures. Involves moderate or occasional presence of unfavorable conditions, i.e., cold, dust, heat, noise, odor, chemicals, etc. Safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, heat protective sleeves, and safety shoes may be required in the area that you are working in based on our safety PPE standards.
