What You Will Do:
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other safety regulations
- Lead workplace safety initiatives, risk assessments and audits
- Drive sustainability efforts-lead a safety committee and develop safety training.
- Investigating incidents and implementing proactive safety solutions
What We're Looking For:
- Degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, or related field
- 5 years of safety management experience in manufacturing
- Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- CSP, CIH or OSHA 30-Hour certification (preferred)

1.0 DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Environmental Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations (e.g., EPA, Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, hazardous waste regulations) and others as required.
- Develop and implement strategies for waste reduction, energy conservation, and other sustainability initiatives.
- Oversee the proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Conduct environmental audits and inspections to identify non-compliance issues and implement corrective actions.
- Prepare and submit required environmental reports, permits, and documentation.
Workplace Safety:
- Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies, procedures, and programs in compliance with OSHA and other applicable standards.
- Conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Lead incident investigations to identify root causes and implement preventative measures.
- Coordinate and conduct safety training programs, including hazard communication, personal protective equipment (PPE), and others as required.
- Facilitate emergency response practices and assurance processes are up to date.
- Monitor workplace conditions and conduct regular safety inspections.
Collaboration:
- Act as the primary point of contact for safety and environmental concerns within the manufacturing facility.
- Collaborate with production supervisors, managers, maintenance teams, and other departments to integrate safety into daily operations.
- Lead the safety committee and foster a culture of accountability and awareness among employees.
- Serve as a liaison with regulatory agencies during inspections and audits.
Innovation and Research:
- Stay updated on advancements in safety trends and regulations.
- Collaborate with engineers and maintenance ensuring all new equipment has safety features that meet safety regulations before turning new equipment over to production.
- Collaborate with academic institutions, webinars, and Black Swamp Safety Council to explore new opportunities in safety innovation.
Data Analysis:
- Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, environmental monitoring, and compliance activities.
- Analyze trends in our workplace incidents and environmental impact to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide regular reports to senior management on safety performance, compliance status, and improvement opportunities.
Team Leadership:
- Develop and lead teams with safety audits, communications and following through with results.
- Guide and oversee the activities of the safety coordinator, provide mentorship, performance evaluations and ensure their daily responsibilities align with organizational goals.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables.
Strategic Planning:
- Collaborate with the management team to develop and execute the company’s strategic plan.
- Build the Job Hazard Analysis processes into new or changed manufacturing operations as identified.

5.0 WORK ENVIRONMENT:
