GENERAL SUMMARY :
Under the general supervision of the Assistant Vice President of Nursing / Clinical and / or Director of Nursing Services, the RN Clinical Manager delegates duties and responsibilities, supervises, coordinates and leads the clinical and other unit activities in order to provide quality patient care.
The RN Clinical Nurse Manager must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his / her unit-adolescent through geriatric
The RN Clinical Manager must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span; possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status; interpret the appropriate information needed for the populations served by the hospital; and to provide the care needed as described in the Nursing Department's policies and procedures.The RN Clinical Manager must be able to perform all functions of a registered nurse within the scope of practice as outlined by the regulatory agencies such as the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing and the Pennsylvania Department of Health. The RN Clinical Manager must be able to deliver nursing care according to the standards of care as outlined by the various associations such as The Association of Rehabilitation Nurses (ARN), Pennsylvania Nurses Association (PNA), and the American Nurses Association Standards of Clinical Practice.
Type of supervision exercised : Full. Jobs reporting to this position : RN, LPN, CNA / NA, Unit Secretaries and other nursing department staff.
EDUCATION :
Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program required.
Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing or Health Administration or equivalent work experience preferred.
CRRN preferred
WORK EXPERIENCE :
Minimum of three (3) years of satisfactory experience as an RN in a rehabilitative setting required.
Supervisory experience preferred.
SPECIAL EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS :
Possession of a current license as a Registered Nurse as issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
Clearances required : PA State Police criminal history check, PA Department of Public Welfare Child
Abuse Central Register (Childline), PA Department of Human Services FBI fingerprint clearance
and PA Department of Aging FBI fingerprint clearance (if applicable).
Strong Clinical leadership and management skills, good interpersonal and interdisciplinary relationships, and a high level of initiative and creative problem solving ability required.
Excellent organizational, administrative, and analytical skills required.
CPR certification must be obtained and maintained.
Computer skills preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
Medium work : duties require exerting up to 25 lbs. to 50 lbs. of force occasionally (approx. 10-33% of shift) and up to 25 lbs. of force frequently (approx. 33-66% of shift).
Position involves bending, reaching, stooping, and lifting (occasionally in strained positions) throughout shift.
Position requires ability to transport self throughout facility.
ACCIDENT OR HEALTH HAZARDS :
Occasional exposure to blood and body substances.
Exposure to needle sticks possible.
