Brief Description
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under the general supervision of the Clinical Dietitian, the Diet Clerk performs clerical functions to assure the appropriate records, menu preparation, production sheets, nourishment labels and schedules are completed and accurate according to diet therapy principles. The Diet Clerk uses these principles to monitor accuracy of patient trays.
EDUCATION:
High School diploma or equivalent required.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
Institutional Or Commercial Food Service Experience Preferred.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES OF JOB:
Correlates and tabulates menu selections in preparation of the following day's production sheets.
Keeps patient Kardexes, nourishment files and menus current. Records diet changes, admission and discharges, as necessary.
Responsible for the proper heading and editing of selective menus for patients' meal selection.
Checks trays at meal time (lunch and dinner) for accuracy in set-up and preparation.
Collects and returns completed menus to Diet Technician/Dietitians for final review and approval.
Adjusts production sheets on a regular basis to insure proper deletions and additions are inserted as required.
Provides additional assistance to Dietitians (i.e., clerical) as necessary.
