What are the responsibilities and job description for the OT Aide, Wilkes Barre Rehab Hospital Transitional Unit (PT or Call-in) position at ALLIED SERVICES?
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Heinz TRU Rehab Director, the Occupational Therapy Aide provides transportation on and off unit to the therapy gym, removes equipment from the TRU unit and returns to therapy department for processing, assists the therapists with patient setup as directed..
EDUCATION:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
Experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
Assists Therapy staff with patient transportation, setup during therapy sessions as directed by the OT/COTA
Obtains a patient schedule each morning. Insures all assigned patients are transported timely to their sechedule therapy appointments. Delivers or retrieves items to/from patients’ rooms as requested by the Occupational Therapist.
Performs general clean-up and departmental maintenance such as, disinfecting the exercise mats; preparation and clean up of department; and upkeep of the ADL apartment, splinting, and equipment rooms. Performs infection control procedures i.e., cleaning of hydroculator, refrigerator and disinfecting equipment between each patient’s use. Delivers equipment to and from patient rooms on TRU unit as instructed by therapist or TRU unit administration
Scans OT forms, answers department phones, takes appropriate messages, makes copies, performs scheduling tasks, assists with clerical duties, orders general supplies, and delivers documents to nursing and Social work depts.
Maintains preventative maintenance logs, temperature logs and cleaning logs for department. Effectively communicates when coverage is needed to complete logs in this position’s absence
