Key Responsibilities
As an AOV Engineer at Allied Staff Augmentation Partners, Inc. (ASAP, Inc.), your key responsibilities will include:
- Designing, analyzing, and optimizing air-operated valves (AOVs) for use in nuclear power plant systems.
- Ensuring AOVs meet design-basis requirements for normal, abnormal, and emergency conditions.
- Collaborating with mechanical and controls engineers to integrate AOVs with reactor cooling, steam, and balance-of-plant systems.
- Developing strategies to mitigate valve degradation and ensure reliable operation.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Conducting predictive and preventive maintenance programs for AOVs.
- Using Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to improve valve reliability.
- Performing diagnostic testing to verify AOV performance.
- Working with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to resolve complex valve performance issues.
Requirements for this role include:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, nuclear engineering, or a related field.
- Advanced degrees (M.S. or Ph.D.) in relevant fields are a plus.
- 3 years of experience in AOV engineering, valve maintenance, or nuclear plant operations.
- Experience in pressurized water reactors (PWR) or boiling water reactors (BWR) is preferred.
Preferred certifications include Professional Engineer (PE) License, Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP), Nuclear Plant Engineering Certification (NPE), or Valve Maintenance Technician Certification (VMC).
