Description :
Responsible for leading project teams for mainly capital projects that are assigned. Must have a strong sense of ownership and commitment for each assigned project by managing the scope of work, project schedule, and budget. Ensure that the design and construction match the defined scope of work, all tasks regarding the schedule are met, and the costs are controlled and do not vary outside the project estimate.
Primary responsibilities include estimating, budgeting, cash flowing, scheduling, project team coordination, and closure of capital construction projects as well as reimbursable and billable projects. Projects assigned are more complex, medium to large-scale projects involving transmission lines, substations, and / or fiber optic communication lines. This position is expected to manage their own projects and provide support to less experienced Project Managers as required.
Essential Job Tasks :
- Lead Project Team :
- Manage projects from initiation to closure.
- Hold project meetings, ensure adherence to scope, and communicate regularly with team members.
- Perform field visits, coordinate with internal departments and external organizations.
- Identify and resolve issues that could impact the project schedule or budget.
- Continuously improve project management processes for cost and time savings.
- Process Understanding :
- Thorough knowledge of the project lifecycle, critical milestones, and performance monitoring.
- Implement improvements discovered during project execution into process documentation.
- Cost & Schedule Management :
- Prepare accurate cost and time estimates and cash flows using historical data and established tools.
- Collaborate with Engineering Associates / Technicians for financial reporting, environmental compliance, and other support tasks.
- Scheduling & Coordination :
- Create detailed project schedules using Primavera scheduling software.
- Update project schedules monthly and coordinate deliverables with design units and construction management.
- Ensure schedule uniformity and consistency with other Project Manager schedules.
- Training & Compliance :
- Participate in training opportunities and adhere to all corporate policies.
- Serve on corporate committees, prepare and present project-related presentations.
- Support Transmission Operations or Berkeley Distribution during grid emergencies.
- Provide guidance and training to less experienced Project Managers.
