Our Ideal Candidate
Allnorth is seeking a proactive and experienced Major Projects HSSE Manager to join our team. This leadership role is critical in driving a culture of safety and operational excellence across large-scale projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with Allnorth’s Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS) and leading initiatives to achieve our Zero Harm goal.
This is a strategic and hands-on role that requires direct field experience on large-scale projects, expertise in HSSE policies and risk management, and strong leadership in coaching and mentoring teams to integrate safety into daily operations.
A Day in the Life
The Major Projects HSSE Manager plays a vital role in ensuring compliance and accountability across Allnorth’s major projects. This includes:
- Supporting digital HSSE tools and resources to track key performance indicators (KPIs), compliance, and reporting.
- Ensuring HSSE-related requirements and actions are successfully implemented, tracked, and recorded.
- Collaborate with Project Management to hire and engage Project-Specific HSSE Coordinators and ensure HSSE costs are accurately captured in project budgets
- Conducting regular field inspections and audits to maintain safety standards.
- Supporting Allnorth’s Contractor Management Program and Emergency Preparedness Program.
- Assisting in the completion and updates of project-specific HSSE plans and documentation.
- Leading and supporting incident investigations and trend analysis to drive continuous improvement.
- Providing guidance and support to field teams on HSSE best practices.
- Coordinating and facilitating emergency response planning and training drills.
- Collaboration with the Corporate HSSE Team to support communication, training, and initiatives effectively delivered to project teams.
- Traveling to project sites as required (approximately 50%).
What You’ll Bring to the Team
- Post-secondary education in a relevant field (e.g., Health, Safety, Security, and Environment, Operational Safety, or Contractor Management) or equivalent experience.
- Certificate, diploma, or degree in Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE), Operational Safety, or Contractor Management.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in project-based health and safety roles.
- At least 5 years of experience on major projects in office, lab, and field environments.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations in North America.
- Proficiency in HSSE activities, including incident investigation, contractor management, and emergency preparedness.
- Strong ability to manage electronic databases and software tools.
- Excellent communication skills with a proactive approach to safety leadership.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Professional certification such as CRSP or CSP is an asset.
