JOB SUMMARY
The health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Director leads the Safety Department and provides strategic planning for ASC. Provides leadership for all HSE activities to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations at our facility in Chester Township, PA. Serves as the senior HSE authority to ensure systems are in place to maintain a safe and healthy work environment, which includes compliance with all HSE requirements, regulations, and industry standards. Serves as the management system representative for corporate HSE framework and ensures conformance with these standards. Provides HSE guidance for day-to-day operations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Provides leadership and technical expertise in Health, Safety and Environmental disciplines
- Approve, track and manage progress of HSE projects
- Creates and implements best practice HSE vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve HSE performance.
- Advise internal departments, including, but not limited to, Product Development, Product Delivery, and Business Support on projects, tasks and initiatives related to HSE

Responsible for ASC compliance with all applicable safety and environmental regulatory requirements
Responsible for preparing, maintaining, updating and auditing HSE policy and procedures - Responsible for the applicable licenses and permits for the ASC business
- Stay abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that may impact the facility and implement appropriate procedures/procedural updates to maintain compliance
- Participate in the design, development and operation of facilities, work areas, and work procedures and make recommendations accordingly. Oversee the approval of Job Hazard Assessments.
- Lead emergency response teams, safety ambassador team, management oversight committees and drive employee engagement through a proactive behavioral based HSE culture.
- Oversee, resolve and approve all major investigations
- Develop, track and conduct HSE related training
- Lead Safety Committee including plant and property tours to identify & correct potential or existing hazards
- Produce daily Safety tip calendar for Supervisor and AM Production meetings
- Evaluate and implement carbon reduction programs / projects, as applicable.
- Leads, assists and/or coaches teams in 5S, daily management, Gemba walks, internal procedural audits, housekeeping audits, hazard hunts, kaizen events, RCCA, etc.
- Sets and communicates goals, targets and performance for environmental impact and safety performance
- Manage hazardous and residual waste, wastewater treatment and discharge, storm water management, EPCRA and other environmental programs for the facility
- Manage the capital expenditure and project deck for HSE related capital improvements including the preparation and presentation of yearly improvement projects
- Serve on the ASC leadership team Interface with Federal, state, and local JHAs (jurisdictions having authority), auditors or inspectors as required
- Special projects and other duties as assigned
- All employees are expected to be in compliance with government and corporate laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures

EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Safety/Environmental Management, or related field
- Certification in Safety Management preferred
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 10 years’ experience managing environmental and safety concerns in a high-tech manufacturing environment
- Experience managing hazardous and residual waste, wastewater treatment and discharge, storm water management, EPCRA and other environmental programs
- Experience implementing various OSHA health and safety programs, with background in high hazard operations preferred
- Experience implementing emergency preparedness and response programs
- Experience in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
- Experience developing HSE capital plans and annual goals and objectives
- Experience with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certifications and standards preferred
- SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have the ability to obtain and/or maintain a DoD clearance
- Proficient with technical writing and editing
- Ability to read and interpret regulations and develop plans for implementation
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability and willingness to perform safety trainings or demonstrations for employees
- Ability to positively interact with others
- Strong organizational skills
- Detail oriented
- Excellent computer skills, including statistical analysis
- Strong influencing skills
- Must be fully knowledgeable in state and federal regulatory compliance matters relating to safety and environmental matters
- Ability to read engineering drawings, building plans, and piping and instrumentation diagrams preferred
- ASSE and/or OSHA compliance workshops or seminars preferred
- Environmental Regulatory Compliance Workshops or Seminars (air, storm, water, wastewater, RCRA/DOT) preferred
PHYSICAL AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise moving objects weighing up to 10 pounds occasionally and/or a negligible amount of weight frequently. Involves sitting, walking and standing. Use of computer. Occasional exposure to outside elements during site walks; Snow, rain, High Heat etc.
