Position Summary
The Regional Safety Specialist provides health, safety, and environmental (HSE) support and training to field operations within a defined geographic area. This role ensures compliance with safety standards and supports safe execution of projects, while providing field-based leadership in safety practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote and maintain a safe work environment across all job sites
- Conduct daily safety inspections and maintain accurate safety logs
- Facilitate and document safety meetings, training sessions, and toolbox talks
- Ensure subcontractor compliance with the Accident Prevention Plan (APP) and Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs)
- Provide technical expertise in risk mitigation, incident investigation, and case management
- Serve as liaison during agency inspections and audits
- Maintain and organize safety-related documentation, including:
- Daily logs (signed/dated)
- Incident/near-miss reports
- AHA documentation
- Safety training and certification records
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Health, Safety, or Environmental Science
- At least 5 years of construction industry safety experience
- OR 3 years of safety experience with a safety-related degree or recognized certification such as:
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
- Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST)
- Associate Safety Professional (ASP)
Required Certifications & Training
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Course
- Must be current (completed within the last 5 years)
- Additional Safety Training:
- Fall Protection
- Confined Space Entry
- Hazard Communication
- EM 385-1-1 Compliance Training (as required by contracts)
Compensation & Travel
- Hourly rate: $30–$45, depending on experience and overall fit
- Travel required: Up to 70%; company-paid hotel and per diem at government rates
- Vehicle support: Company vehicle and/or allowance may be provided based on need and assignment

Work Environment & Physical Demands

Position Type & Schedule
- Full-time role
- Frequently requires long hours, holidays, and weekend work depending on project needs
- Must be on-site full-time when work is being performed

- Ability to obtain or maintain relevant certifications as required
