Allpoints Surveying is seeking an IT Help Desk Technician to join our growing team in Houston, TX. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, a passion for problem-solving, and the ability to provide excellent customer service. The IT Help Desk Technician serves as the first point of contact for employees seeking technical assistance, and is responsible for troubleshooting hardware and software issues, providing guidance and ensuring the smooth operation of IT systems.
Responsibilities
- Serves as the first point of contact for technical support inquiries via phone, email, or in person.
- Handles with onboarding and offboarding employees, including setting up and deactivating accounts
- Provides technical support to end users by troubleshooting and resolving email, printer, software and hardware issues
- Provides desktop support for network devices.
- Completes user setups for new hires.
- Implements cybersecurity measures as directed by the IT Manager.
- Is responsible for the inventory of computer assets.
- Documents and tracks support requests.
- Escalates complex issues to senior IT staff or other departments when necessary.
Requirements
· An associate’s degree or equivalent two-year college or technical school experience is preferred.
· A minimum of two years of experience in the IT field is required.
· CompTIA A (preferred).
· Proficiency in computers and Windows applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook) is essential, along with the ability to learn new software.
· Must be a self-starter and quick thinker, with strong verbal, telephonic, written, and electronic communication skills.
· A high degree of attention to detail is required.
· Ability to multi-task effectively in a fast-paced work environment is essential.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required.
Working Conditions
· The person in this position needs to occasionally move about in the office to access file cabinets, office equipment, etc.
· Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time or more.
· Constantly operates a computer and other office tools, such as a calculator, copy machine, and printer.
· Must have the ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Frequently communicates with co-workers and must be able to exchange accurate information verbally, telephonically, and in written and electronic form (email/text).
· Frequently observes details at close range.
· Must be able to work onsite Monday – Friday (8 am -5 pm).
