PURPOSE: Supervise daily operations of the kitchen including the meal preparation, purchasing, cost control, sanitation, safety, and staff training. Responsible for the preparation and cooking of the food in the community, Ensures that all meals are prepared and presented according to William Penn Community standards, direct staff and organizes kitchen.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· High school Diploma or general education degree (GED)

· Culinary Training preferred

· Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience as a lead cook in a hospitality or health care environment is preferred.

· Able to read and follow recipes and printed production guidelines, cleaning schedules and logs.

· Knowledge of food handling, preparation. Cooking and service.

RESIDENT RIGHTS:

· Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information including protected health information. Report known or suspected incidents of unauthorized disclosure of such information.

· Ensure that you treat all residents fairly, and with kindness, dignity, and respect

· Ensure that all nursing is provided in privacy

· Knock before entering the resident’s room

· Report all grievances and complaints made by the resident to the Charge Nurse/Administrator.

· Report all allegations of resident abuse and/or misappropriation of resident’s property immediately to the Charge Nurse/Administrator.

· Honor the resident’s refusal of treatments request. Report such requests to your supervisor

· Communicate respectfully and appropriately, respect culture differences among residents and staff

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

· Provide a high level of customer service and promote a restaurant style dining atmosphere.

· Work closely with Pc Administrator and Charge Nurses to keep residents satisfied with food and dining programs.

· Coach, train and develop kitchen staff as required.

· Create a strong sense of team work and cooperation among all staff.

· Ensure that all food is received, stored and prepared according to the community standards.

· Maintain kitchen and food storage and preparation areas in clean, safe and sanitary condition at all times.

· Responsible for all the overall food qualify and presentation of meals according to established recipes and approved menus.

· Oversees daily operations of the kitchen helping maintain high standards for food preparation and service.

· Assist with William Penn Care Food Director with management of the budget for items such as linen, table settling supplies, uniforms, payroll and special events.

· Assist with planning, preparation, and execution of special events, banquets and theme meals.

· When applicable acquaint new residents with menus, seating dining options.

· Maintains records of residents with special diets.

· Ensures that weekly menu is posted one week in advance and that the daily specials and alternatives are posted and placed in the menu folders.

· Maintains a copy of the menus for a one month period including any changes made to the menu.

· Maintain documentation of food temperatures prior to service, plus refrigeration and freezer temperatures.

· Must attend food committee monthly.

· Prepare and ensure snacks and beverages are available to the residents all times in the 4th floor Any Time Café (Kitchenette)

· Assist with transportation and storage of food and supplies.

· Assist with keeping kitchen floors clean (sweep and mop) and trash emptied.

· Maintains resident’s rights, safety, dignity and confidentiality.

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:

· Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language

· Must be a supportive team member, contribute to and be an example of team work and the team concept

· Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public

· Must be able to follow written and oral instructions

· Must not pose a threat to the health or safety of their individuals in the workplace

· Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday

· Must be able to function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with other

· Must be willing to perform tasks that may involve exposure to the blood and/or body fluids

· Must be willing to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations

· Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.

Must perform all additional tasks assigned to you by supervisor

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $38,000.00 per year
