Job Overview:
The Security Technician – Access Control Systems Specialist is responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of access control systems, ensuring the safety and security of client facilities. This role requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and excellent problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installation & Configuration:
- Install and program access control hardware and software, including card readers, electronic locks, keypads, and biometric systems.
- Perform wiring, panel mounting, and system integration to ensure seamless functionality.
- Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues with access control systems and related equipment.
- Conduct regular system inspections, updates, and preventative maintenance.
- System Upgrades:
- Recommend and implement system enhancements to improve security and efficiency.
- Integrate access control systems with other security solutions, such as surveillance cameras and alarm systems.
- Client Support & Training:
- Provide on-site and remote technical support to clients as needed.
- Train end-users on system operation and functionality.
- Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of installations, service calls, and system configurations.
- Prepare detailed reports and provide documentation for client and internal use.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required:
- Proven experience with access control systems such as DMP, Alarm.com, PDK, Lenel, Honeywell, HID, Avigilon, or similar platforms.
- Knowledge of electronic security systems, including wiring, networking, and troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of industry standards and regulations, including ADA and NFPA guidelines.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and software.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Preferred:
- Certification in access control systems (e.g., DMP, Alarm.com, PDK, Lenel Certified Professional, Genetec Certification).
- Experience with IP-based security solutions.
- Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles related to access control systems.
Work Environment:
- Ability to work in various environments, including commercial, industrial, and residential sites.
- Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $27.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
