We are seeking an experienced Airframe Design Engineer to join our team in Adelanto, CA. This role involves designing aircraft and airframe structures, contributing to the development of next-generation, high-performance uncrewed aircraft.
Responsibilities:
- Aircraft and Airframe Design: Contribute to the conceptual and detailed design of prototype aircraft.
- CAD Layout: Complete CAD modeling using NX Siemens.
- Aerostructure Design: Utilize first principle methods and design guides to rapidly develop and trade aerostructures.
- Structural Sizing: Ownership of the development of primary and secondary aircraft structural parts, assemblies, and installations using sheet metal, billet metallic, and composite materials.
- Collaboration: Work within a team of 15 engineers and coordinate with teams of 60 across multiple groups.
- Detailing: Detail out the structure of aircraft and coordinate with various departments to mature the design from conception to production.
- Prototype Testing: Participate in prototype testing and design reviews.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering preferred. Candidates with a Master's or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline are also considered.
- Preference for candidates with experience in airframe design engineering. Practical aircraft understanding and passion (pilot, homebuilding, A&P, RC, etc.) are highly valued.
- Proficiency in CAD layout (NX Siemens), aircraft system design, aerostructure design, and structural sizing. Ability to review results from stress and stiffness models and implement improvements or detect errors.
- Excellent communication, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative group.
- Hands-on work experience (building, machining, fabricating, repair, etc.) is a plus.
