Compliance Officer
Position Summary
The employee in this position is responsible for overseeing the compliance of all credit union activities in accordance with the current plans, policies, directives and activities as established by the NCUA.
Essential Responsibilities
- Represent the Credit Union to the members in a courteous and professional manner and build positive relationships with not only members, but also appropriate trade associations and organizations.
- Provide the strategic and/or administrative direction and management of all compliance issues.
- Ensure credit union remains in compliance with the federal laws and regulations set forth by the
National Credit Union Administration.
- Review, revise and develop credit union policies, ensuring all are current and in compliance with
NCUA regulations. This is to be done on a daily basis as the primary responsibility of this position.
- Provide recommendation to the Board on suggested policy revisions and new policies.
- Assist with the security and safety for the credit union and analyze security and safety policies and procedures, and alert staff of any changes immediately.
- Review daily and bi-weekly reports for BSA compliance (FINCEN scans, CTR & MIL reports,
Supervisory override reports, etc.)
- Review CTR and SAR forms for compliance before filing with the proper government agency.
- Prepare High Risk Accounts report per request of NCUA on a monthly basis.
- Maintain a thorough working knowledge of Credit Union history and philosophy, as well as policies and procedures of the Credit Union.
- Maintain working knowledge on Credit Union Core System and helping Development in new products.
- Conduct annual updates to the Credit Unions Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Plan.
- Assist in Reconciliations and Coordinate External Audits.
Educational & Experience Minimum Requirements
- Extensive training in credit union rules and regulations, or experience in compliance, legal, audit, risk or other relevant functions.
- Strong organizational skills, and able to work independently.
- Excellent presentation and interpersonal communication skills.
- Detailed Oriented.
- Good analytical and problem solving skills.
