As a Materials Laboratory Specialist, you will be operating and maintaining multiple diagnostic tools for analyzing and characterizing materials, sub-assemblies, and final products. These are typically harsh-environment sensors used in nuclear reactors, radiation monitoring, oil & gas exploration, and natural gas turbines.
As a Materials Laboratory Specialist, you will be responsible for:
- Analyzing metallographics, including sample preparation, mounting, polishing chemical handling, and etching.
- Operating Keyence VHX-7000 digital microscope to capture and report results of metallographic analysis, general part examinations, and other investigative projects.
- Operating Thermo Fisher Apreo 2 SEM for microscopic exam, elemental analysis using EDS, and crystallographic analysis using EBSD.
- Operating Waygate Phoenix|x-ray V|tome|x L300 CT scanner for 3D imaging of samples, including scanning, reconstruction and final rendering using Volume Graphics, VGSTUDIOMAX software.
- Operating the Starrett L3 Series Material Tester (tensile and compressive strength tester).
- Operating the XRF and FTIR material analyzers.
- Deploying and operating other equipment purchased for Materials Lab’s expanded capabilities
- Contributing to ongoing production analytical needs, failure analysis of various parts and components, and other investigations of R-S products.
- Operating the Laboratory with scheduling, reporting, and equipment maintenance.
- Supporting Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) projects.
To Be Successful In This Role You Will
- Have a High School Diploma or GED from an accredited school
- Have a minimum of three years of experience working in a manufacturing or laboratory environment.
- Have a minimum of three years of experience using laboratory equipment.
- Have great service orientation to the production floor and customers alike.
- Have the ability to coordinate several projects concurrently.
