Salary Range : 30 – 40 USD Hourly

The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Total compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education / training and skill level.

About the Role : Law.com Radar, an innovative legal news source that combines editorial savvy with advanced data processing, is seeking a part-time editor to focus on corporate deal updates. Our ideal candidate is a strong writer and researcher, excels at breaking down complex subjects and has an interest or previous experience in journalism, law or finance.

Location / Hours : This position is 15-20 hours weekly. Hybrid office work schedule based in New York.

WHAT YOU’LL DO :

  • Edit short news briefs about corporate transactions, including mergers, IPOs and strategic partnerships
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of content for a sophisticated legal audience
  • Work quickly to improve content and correct errors based on source material
  • Master a proprietary content management system and apply taxonomy related to matter types, law firms, companies and industries

ABOUT YOU :

  • You are a strong writer with at least two years of professional experience in journalism, communications or a legal field
  • You are highly motivated with a demonstrated aptitude for learning new subjects and systems.
  • You have high standards and can work efficiently with minimal supervision
  • You can write quickly and clearly without making errors. Even when juggling tasks, you have strong focus and attention to detail
  • You have an entrepreneurial, problem-solving spirit and thrive in a fast-paced news environment
  • A law degree or legal background is a plus. Some news or copy-writing experience is preferred
