Job Description
This is an on-site role as a Medical Assistant at Almond ObGyn in Los Angeles, CA. You’ll be responsible for various day-to-day tasks including triage, blood draws, medical procedures, maintaining medical records, and other tasks related to patient care. All our medical assistants are cross-trained to cover the front desk.
- Obtain blood samples
- Order labs & organize specimens
- Perform data entry, update patient charts
- Assist the OB/GYN during patient procedures
- Measure and record vital signs
- Clean and stock exam rooms
- Clean and sterilize equipment
- Answering patient phone calls and messages
- Handling requests from outside facilities (insurance companies, labs, etc)
- Assisting the team in overall company operations
Patient Care
- Take and record patient histories and vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respiration rate).
- Prepare patients for examinations and assist with physical exams.
- Administer medications as prescribed by a physician.
- Perform routine laboratory tests (e.g., blood draws, urinalysis).
- Assist with minor surgical procedures and medical tests.
Patient Interaction
- Answer patient questions and provide education on health and wellness.
- Explain procedures and treatments to patients.
Infection Control
- Follow infection control procedures, including sterilization of equipment.
- Disinfect and clean examination rooms.
Documentation
- Record patient information and medical histories in electronic health records (EHR).
- Document patient progress and any changes in their condition.
What are we looking for?
Qualifications
- Medical Assisting and Medical Terminology skills
- Medical assistant or phlebotomy certification
- Strong phlebotomy skills
- Experience in medical office procedures
- Ability to provide excellent patient care
- Knowledge of maintaining medical records
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Experience in obstetrics and gynecology is preferred
