Overview

The Director, Advanced Analytics, will lead efforts in predictive and prescriptive analytics, leveraging data science techniques such as machine learning, advanced statistical modeling, and AI to deliver outstanding value to the business. This role will focus on uncovering future trends and optimizing strategies for long-term business success within relevant global markets, closely partnering with Senior Leaders to craft analytical solutions to business challenges.

As a leader within the Advanced Analytics COE, this role will interact regularly with internal stakeholders and external agencies, define and propose appropriate data and technology solutions for key business challenges, deliver actionable insights, and drive product thinking within the COE and across the business.

The Director will independently drive and also support junior team members in delivering analytics and data science solutions for specific parts of the business, such as Marketing and Sales, Strategic Accounts, Medical Affairs, and Media; as well as to specific global markets. Each team member is also expected to support initiatives and product development outside of their main focus areas as needed by the business.

There is an incredible opportunity to shape the commercial organization in the critical competencies mentioned above, particularly in customer experience and innovative practices.

The position will be based in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Complex Initiatives : Oversee and execute high-impact analytics and data science projects that are critical to business success, including those related to product launches and market expansion.
  • Methodology Advancement : Drive the adoption of advanced analytical methodologies, including machine learning and AI, to enhance predictive capabilities and business outcomes.
  • Product Development : Use product management and design thinking principles to deliver sustainable, high value work product for the business centered on user needs and developed iteratively over time.
  • Strategic Collaboration : Partner with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure analytics initiatives align with and support overarching business strategies.
  • Mentorship : Mentor and develop junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Strategic Influence : Utilize data-driven insights to influence strategic decision-making at the executive level, contributing to initiatives like predicting patient journey events.
  • Global-Local Strategy Integration : Balance and integrate global and local market analytics strategies to ensure cohesive and effective business approaches.
  • Project Leadership : Lead and manage complex projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and meet quality standards.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in Business, Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum of 12 years in commercial advanced analytics or data science, with a focus on the healthcare sector. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industries.
  • Comprehensive understanding of global healthcare markets and the ability to leverage data for high-impact business value creation
  • Expertise in advanced statistical modeling, machine learning, AI, and data visualization tools
  • Experience with EHR, administrative claims, and laboratory data (e.g., IQVIA, Komodo, Symphony claims data)
  • Exceptional ability to present complex analytical insights to senior leadership in a clear and actionable manner
  • Proven track record of leading complex, business-critical projects and managing cross-functional teams
  • Experience in driving the adoption of innovative analytical tools and methodologies.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading projects independently and mentoring junior team members
  • Excellent attention to detail, analytical, problem-solving, and innovative thinking skills
