What are the responsibilities and job description for the Barista (part-time) position at Aloft Indianapolis Downtown?
The Aloft Indianapolis Downtown (New Marriott property opening soon) is looking for an energetic and friendly individual to become part of our F&B team as a morning Barista at RE:Fuel located inside Indy's newest and trendiest hotel destination; boasting 128 guestrooms, a full-service bar and a small plate dining concept. Aloft is a hip Marriott lifestyle brand focused on style, personality and a lively hotel social scene to cater to the next gen traveler.
As a Re:Fuel Barista, you would be responsible for the following tasks:
- Prepare coffee and espresso beverages: Operate coffee machines and espresso equipment to prepare a variety of hot and cold coffee drinks (e.g., lattes, cappuccinos, cold brews).
- Food preparation: Assist in food prep and basic cooking tasks, including making sandwiches, salads, and pastries, following Re:Fuel's menu and quality standards.
- Customer service: Greet customers, deliver orders, and offer recommendations based on their preferences. Ensure customer satisfaction with friendly and attentive service.
- Maintain cleanliness: Keep the work area clean and organized, including the coffee station, kitchen, and dining areas. Follow proper food safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Stock management: Assist in monitoring inventory levels for both beverages and food ingredients, ensuring timely restocking.
- Team collaboration: Work closely with other baristas, cooks, and café staff to ensure efficient service and a positive team environment.
- Learn and grow: Participate in training opportunities to improve your skills in coffee preparation and food service, and stay up to date with Re:Fuel's menu updates.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience: No prior experience necessary; we are happy to train enthusiastic individuals. Experience in a café, restaurant, or customer service role is a plus.
- Skills: Basic knowledge of food preparation, cooking, and barista techniques is a bonus. Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
- Customer-focused: Friendly, approachable, and able to interact well with customers. Ability to take initiative and make recommendations based on customer needs.
- Team player: Ability to work well with others, supporting a positive work environment.
- Physical requirements: Must be able to stand for long periods, lift up to 25 pounds, and perform tasks that require mobility around the café and kitchen areas.
