What are the responsibilities and job description for the Optometric Technician position at Aloha Vision?
Job Description
The Optometric Technician performs various tasks to help the optometrist evaluate and diagnose the visual and ocular health of patients. As an Optometric Technician, you are also expected to be cross-trained to complete front desk/receptionist duties.
Essential Duties
- Clean and sterilize optometric equipment
- Gathering patient data (e.g. medical history, chief complaint, and etc.)
- Administering diagnostic tests, such as tonometry, autorefraction, visual acuity, and retinal imaging
- Assisting Optometrist with contact lens fittings
- Teaching patients how to properly insert, remove, and properly care for their contact lenses
- Managing contact lens trial and material orders
- Verifying patient insurance eligibility
- Scheduling appointments
- Invoicing and collecting payment
- Cleaning and maintenance of the office space and equipment
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English
- Must be able to follow instructions and understand instructions given in written form as well as verbal form
